Unilateral Paper Feed Device

This paper feed device is provided in particular for nonmechanical high- speed line printers and permits a simple and rapid loading of the paper.

The paper feed device essentially consists of a driving motor, not shown, driving a tractor belt 1 on which pins 2 are arranged at a 1" spacing. The tractor belt moves over tractor pulleys 3 and 4. The tractor lid is replaced by a thin apertured belt 5 with its apertures engaging tractor pins 2. Apertured belt 5 is guided by the two pulleys 6 and 7. Pulley 7 is forced against pulley 4 under spring tension.

The perforation of the paper web passes in-between the tractor belt 1 and the apertured belt 5. Laterally adjacent to the tractor belt 1 and apertured belt 5, two guide plates 8 and 9 are arranged through which the paper passes. 0n their front ends, the guide plates are bent outwards to permit easy insertion of the paper web. The distance between the guide plates is approximately 0.8 mm. On the inside of at least one of the guide plates 8 or 9, grooves, ribs or brush lines 10 are obliquely arranged in such a manner that they form an angle of less than 90 degrees with respect to tractor movement. These grooves, ribs or brush lines 10 cause the paper to be pulled away from the drive system consisting of tractor belt 1 and apertured belt 5, so that the paper is invariably tensioned, thus eliminating the need for a second drive system.

For inserting a paper web pulley 4, together with tractor...
