Abstract

A brazing paste for use in forming gas or hydrogen atmospheres is composed of the braze material and a vehicle. The vehicle is 45% THIXCIN* 25C and 55% terpineol. The ratio of THIXCIN 25C to terpineol is variable dependent upon the desired viscosity. Other vehicle systems leave a carbon residue that prevents good braze joints.

A brazing paste for use in forming gas or hydrogen atmospheres is composed of the braze material and a vehicle. The vehicle is 45% THIXCIN* 25C and 55% terpineol. The ratio of THIXCIN 25C to terpineol is variable dependent upon the desired viscosity. Other vehicle systems leave a carbon residue that prevents good braze joints.

An application for this material is pin attachment of high-density pin arrays of electronic circuits in a furnace, using a reducing atmosphere. A reducing atmosphere is necessary to prevent oxidation of other substrate metals.
