Abstract

The exhaust muffler shown is constructed to muffle exhaust air blown through pneumatic hoses 10, and at the same time to draw in additional exhaust air through ports 14. The pneumatic hoses 10 attach to the bottom of the muffler body 12 at ports 16. Positioned above the ports 16 is an orifice plate 18. When the cover plate 20 is attached to the body of the muffler, the ports 14 are positioned between ports 16 and the orifices 22 in orifice plate 18. Accordingly, when the flow of air moves from port 16 through orifices 22, suction is generated through ports 14 to further exhaust air. Tubes can be attached to the ports 14 to provide suction remote from the muffler. The inner walls of the muffler are coated with acoustic material 24 to deaden the sound of air being exhausted through the muffler.
