Abstract

This beam-like attachment clip 10 maintains a mounting block 11 in a fixed position within a slot 12 in a body 13, as shown n Fig. 1, and prevents any walking movement during thermal cycling even in the block and the body are materials having different coefficients of expansion.

Each side of the clip 10, as shown in Fig. 2, has three protruding portions 20, 21 and 22 of equal length L with the middle protrusion being wider than the end protrusions. When the clip is inserted into the slot, the middle protrusion provides the dominant force P1 with respect to the clamping forces P2 developed by the end protrusions. Accordingly, the temperature related frictional expansion forces P3 produced at the end protrusions are in opposite directions, resulting in a zero total force vector along the slot boundaries between the clip and the body
