Input Storage and Output Setting of Tabs

Through the use of an electronic tab rack in conjunction with a processor controlled printer, tabs set and cleared are stored during keying and do not have to be reset during playout.

Tabs are set and cleared along with the keying of each job. Codes which indicate the setting and clearing of tabs are stored in a buffer along with text. During playout, the reading of these codes from the buffer causes the electronic tab rack to be set or cleared in accordance with the keyed settings. This permits the tab rack to be used in a conventional manner during keying, and also alleviates the necessity of an operator setting tabs during a later playout.
