This glass composition, by weight, consists of: SiO(2): 64.0 K(2)O: 3.0 B(2)O(3): 28.0 Al(2)O(3): 2.0 Na(2)O 3.0.

These glasses are ideally compatible with certain substrate glasses and possess a set point equal to 48.2 x 10/-7/ degrees C, and fire extremely well around the annealing point of the substrate glass so as to avoid warping. Also, since the glass is non-lead, it does not present aging problems. Thermal expansion and firing temperatures can be maintained by eliminating Na(2)O and replacing it with K(2)O, which is sometimes desirable from the ion migration standpoint. This composition is further suitable for fabricating larger panels of glass, since the cooling rates are not critical, approximately equal to 40 degrees C/min. Helium diffusion in this composition is limited, while Cr/Cu/Cr dissolution in this formulation is also minimal, since firing can be performed within an inert reducing atmosphere.
