Teleprocessing Terminal Monitoring Device

Teleprocessing monitoring device 10 monitors communications between a teleprocessing terminal and a computer to gather statistics relating to performance of a terminal system, without impacting the system or requiring special expensive equipment.

The cable from the data set 14 and the cable from computer or terminal 12 are plugged into device 10. All lines are fed straight through. Diodes, not shown, from the serial data-in and serial data-out lines are ORed. The diodes may be biased from voltages available at data set 14 and no power supplies are therefore required. A cable from device 10 is plugged into second data set 16, and the combined serial data-in and serial data-out signal is used to modulate second data set 16, which is used to communicate with a second computer, not shown, or another port on computer 12, which monitors the signals.
