By optimizing field gradients in a magnetic bubble domain structure, high- speed motion of a magnetic bubble around corners is achievable.

More specifically, a proposed pattern is illustrated consisting of I and Y bars of permalloy. For ease of presentation, certain portions of the bars are labeled A through J. Assuming a bubble is at position A, as the in-plane magnetic field is rotated clockwise, propagation of the bubble progresses from A to B to C to D to E.

When the bubble arrives at E and moves toward F, it should be noted that D is in reality -F and this combined reaction causes a push-pull gradient field, which causes the bubble to move to F with minimum phase lag. This same action is generated when the bubble moves from F to G, the push-pull gradient being caused by G and E which is -G.
