Josephson Bidirectional Current Steering Device

A Josephson bidirectional current steering device is provided in which the input current I(IN) can be + or - and still be routed.

The input current I(IN) is a bipolar current (bipolar current is + or - current) to be directed to outputs B1 or B2. Control current IC is a unipolar current and J1 and J2 are cross-field Josephson devices. Device J1 is a multiple control device biased to have the skewed characteristics, as shown in Fig. 2a. Device J2 is unbiased so that it remains with standard cross-field characteristics, as shown in Fig. 2b.

When.the control current IC is 0 or small, the input current I(IN) is routed through J2 regardless of the polarity of I(IN) (+ or -). If the control current IC is changed to delta IC then J1 only passes the current. Hence, I(IN) (+ or -) is routed to output B1.
