Abstract

The split exhaust scroll 1 and the blower wheel 2 provide an improved centrifugal blower. The split exhaust scroll includes a flair back 3 and a stabilizer partition 4. The flair back 3 provides a 30% increase in flow due to decreased flow restriction. However, the flair back construction results in unstable flow. The stabilizer partition 4 restores steady flow operation at the increased flow rate. The exiting air velocity at a given flow rate is less and results in a quieter operation.

Split Exhaust Scroll

The split exhaust scroll 1 and the blower wheel 2 provide an improved centrifugal blower. The split exhaust scroll includes a flair back 3 and a stabilizer partition 4. The flair back 3 provides a 30% increase in flow due to decreased flow restriction. However, the flair back construction results in unstable flow.

The stabilizer partition 4 restores steady flow operation at the increased flow rate. The exiting air velocity at a given flow rate is less and results in a quieter operation.

The split exhaust scroll provides increased blower performance without increasing the acoustical noise rating.
