Abstract

Air cooled units generally required filter changes which are costly operations for small systems. The present arrangement sets forth a self-cleaning filter design wherein the filter is in a belt-form and rotates as shown in the figure, around the entire unit. Air enters the frame through the top portion of the filter, which catches the particulate or dust on the outer surface. Since the filter is rotating, the inlet portion of the filter eventually moves to the bottom, wherein the dust or particulates will be blown off the filter by the exhausting air. In essence, it is a rotational filter-belt which catches particulate contaminants at the inlet and rejects the same at the outlet.

Not all filter materials are suitable for this self-cleaning scheme, however, most of the foam air-filter material being used today can be used in this self-cleaning design with reasonable success.
