Abstract

A rewind spool assembly for rewinding paper or journal action paper P - similar to cash register rolls of paper - in a business machine comprises, as shown in Fig.s 1-3, a cylindrical bobbin 1 mounted on a shaft 2 which projects on either end of the bobbin. The bobbin 1 is split lengthwise and opposite edges of the split overlap, with the inner edge 5 being bent inwardly adjacent the split to provide a cam portion. The shaft 2 is rotatably supported within the bobbin by a sleeve 6 mounted centrally of the bobbin by radial arms 7. The shaft 2 has a lengthwise rib 8 which presses against the cam portion 5 of the inner edge when rotated clockwise, as shown in Fig. 3, so as to clamp an end of the roll of paper P therebetween. The rib 8 is activated by a radial tab 9 on one end.

By rotating the tab 9 counterclockwise, the rib 8 is released from the bent cam portion 5 as shown in Fig. 2, releasing the pressure between the overlapping edges of the bobbin and releasing the paper.
