Bold and Multicolored Type

Bold and multicolored type are produced by interposing an additional typewriter ribbon between the typehead and ribbon, and the platen. This will eliminate the necessity for, 1) changing fonts for producing bold type, and 2) changing ribbons for producing different colored type.

Typewriters and printers having an erase ribbon feature, such as the IBM Correcting "Selectric" Typewriter, can be used for effecting bold and colored type. This is accomplished by substituting a standard or colored ribbon for the erase ribbon in the erase ribbon cartridge, and activating the erase mechanism when bold or colored type is desired.
