Module Socket Adapter

Integrated circuit modules packaged in one Pin configuration may be mounted on circuit boards intended for modules with other pin configurations.

For example, a 4 x 4 pin module is mounted in an adapter which spans four rows of pin sockets in a circuit board. The adapter connects sixteen pins from the 4 x 4 module to sixteen-pin holes arranged in two parallel lines, in accordance with the conventional dual-in-line packaging dimensions. Similarly, a 3 x 4 module may be adapted to a 2 x 6 configuration. Adapter pin holes are connected to adapter pins by conventional techniques; for example, etched foil on an epoxy substrate.
