Safety Guard

This safety guard consists of a combination of magnetic rubber and a high- density tubular foam, such as nitril-vinyl polymer, to form a protective covering on edges of a metal panel or the like.

The tubular foam 10 is slit lengthwise and strips of a magnetic rubber adhesive 12 are bonded to the inside surfaces of the tubular foam wall thickness. The magnetized surfaces of the magnetic rubber adhesive 12 face each other in the tubing 10. These surfaces are arranged to have opposing magnetic poles adjacent one another within the tubing, to provide the strongest holding force.

The panel edge 14 to be guarded is slipped into the slit containing the magnetic rubber adhesive 12 without the use of tools, etc. The foam 10 completely wraps around the edge of the panel to be protected and can be easily removed.

An air pocket 16 is located within the interior of the tubular foam piece 10 to provide an air cushioning effect, in addition to the cushioning effect of the foam.
