Pneumatic Transfer Manifold

A transfer manifold is provided for connecting pneumatic lines to various stations through a rotatable transfer station.

The transfer station consists of a lower stationary section 10 having concentric grooves 12 in the upper surface thereof. An upper rotatable section 14 has concentric ridges 16 therein which mate with the concentric grooves 12. The ridges 16 extend from the upper section 14 sufficiently, so that concentric chambers 18 are formed between the ridges 16 when they are mated with the grooves 12. A pneumatic supply line 20 is connected to each of the chambers
18. Outputs 22 from the chambers 18 are provided through the rotatable upper section 14. When the rotatable upper section 14 is positioned with respect to an output station, pneumatic connections are completed from stationary inputs to rotatable outputs. It should be noted that the pneumatic connections are completely independent and, therefore, can provide different pressures.

The top section 14 is spring loaded by springs 24 to establish a positive seal between the two chamber sections. The spring loaded top section 14 automatically compensates for wear between the adjacent sections.
