Automatic Fabrication of Corona Units

A process for automatically assembling corona units is described. The process includes stringing the wires directly from a spool of wire, and attaching the wires to either square or round wire-wrap terminals by standard wire-wrap tools.

If additional tension is required in the wires, this tension can be obtained in two ways. The first tensioning method is to release a preloaded tensioning spring. The second tensioning method is to leave the wire-wrap terminal block loose during the wire-wrap operation and, after the wiring is complete, tightening the terminal blocks so that additional tensioning is produced in the corona wires.
