Ink Jet Aiming Device

A simple, accurate and reliable aiming device for an ink jet nozzle is possible when independent adjustments are provided for each axis, with the pivot point therefor approximately coincident with the nozzle.

In the figure, ink jet nozzle 1 is supported in block 2 secured to "L" bracket 3 which, in turn, is mounted on adjustable plate 4. Plate 4 is pivotally secured to angle frame 5 at pin 6. The angle frame is pivotally mounted on base plate 7 at pin 8. Plate 4 and angle frame 5 are held together by locking screws 9 which are threadedly mounted in plate 4. Frame 5 is maintained in position on base 7 by locking screws 10 threadedly secured in the base 7. Frame 5 is formed with slotted openings for the locking screws 10 to allow relative movement when the locking screws are loosened.

In adjusting the nozzle direction, the nozzle is rotated about either pivot pin 6 or pin 8. To change direction along the X-axis, locking screws 9 are loosened and adjusting eccentric tool 13 is inserted in hole 14 and slot 15 and rotated to move plate 4 about pivot 6. Screws 9 are then tightened. For the Y-axis adjustment, locking screws 10 are loosened and adjusting eccentric 13 is inserted in hole 16 and slot 17 and rotated in the appropriate direction to move angle frame 5. Screws 10 are then tightened.
