Positional Control Unit

A positional control unit made up of a potentiometer and switches is housed in a symmetrical container, thus eliminating separate packages, and providing for independent adjustment and self-alignment.

Potentiometer element 9 and switch element 10 are maintained about their ends by brackets 11. Element 9 has continuous contact portions 14 and 15, and element 10 has continuous contact portion 13 and spaced contact portions, such as 12. These elements, when connected to brackets 11, are independently adjustable relative to one another when positioned in container 1. Adjustment is effected by screws 7 against springs 6 relative to uprights 8.

With elements 9, 10, and brackets 11 positioned in container 1 and properly adjusted, separate apparatuses can be controlled upon translation of rod 2. Rod 2 is connected to plunger 3 which carries spring contacts 4 and 5. Due to the configuration of spring contacts 4 and 5, plunger 3 is essentially self-aligning. Movement of rod 2 and plunger parallel to elements 9 and 10 will position contacts 5 relative to contacts 13 and 15, and contacts 4 relative to contacts 12 and 14.
