Abstract

The following binder system (ceramic-binder-solvent) is useful in fabricating green sheets for multilevel ceramic products, because it has an ultrafast drying characteristic: 400 g high alumina, glass frit ceramic 25.4 g polyvinyl butyral 9.4 g DOP dioctyl phthalate 240 g methylene chloride 160 g 1,1,2,2 tetrachloroethylene.

25.4 g polyvinyl butyral

9.4 g DOP dioctyl phthalate

240 g methylene chloride

160 g 1,1,2,2 tetrachloroethylene.

Ceramic green sheet cast from this binder system are completely solvent free within 15 minutes, as illustrated in the drawing, and could conceivably be solvent free in 5 minutes or less with the addition of heat of above, for example, 95 degrees F.

Green sheets made from this new ultrafast drying binder system have physical and mechanical properties that are suitable for multilayer ceramic fabrication.
