Abstract

Xerographic drum 10 is charged by corona unit 11, image-wise discharged by optical system 12, developed by magnetic brush developing station 13 to form a physical image 14, which is transferred by corona unit 15 to support sheet 16. Surface 10 and any residual toner particles 17 thereon are exposed to corona unit 18, which is of opposite polarity to charge corona 11. Erase lamp 19 discharges photoconductor 10 to approximately uniform zero charge prior to resubjection to charge from corona unit 11. If desired, further copies can be made immediately of the same image by recharging at station 11 and reimaging at station 12.

Xerographic System

When no further copies of the same image are desired, charge corona 11 and imaging station 12 are turned off thus presenting discharged photoconductor 10, bearing residual toner particles with low charge thereon, to the magnetic brush 20 in development station 13. Magnetic brush 20 removes the residual toner particles to provide a clean surface 10 for receiving a different image.
