Abstract

The magnet assembly includes a magnet core-coil subassembly 10 and an armature 12 which are swung about the same pivot point 14, and both rest against the same support surface 16 when the coil 10a of subassembly 10 is in the de-energized condition so that the gap 18 between magnet core 10b and armature 12 remains constant, regardless of wear.

The magnet assembly includes a magnet core-coil subassembly 10 and an armature 12 which are swung about the same pivot point 14, and both rest against the same support surface 16 when the coil 10a of subassembly 10 is in the de-energized condition so that the gap 18 between magnet core 10b and armature 12 remains constant, regardless of wear.

Armature 12 extends through a slot 20, one side of which constitutes the surface 16 in a lifter 22 which is pivoted at 24. The lifter may be effective on document cards, for example. Lifter 22 is swung upwardly about pivot 24 by a cam 38 on which the end of lifter 22 rests. Armature 12 is provided with a latch surface 40 for latching onto surface 16 and holding lifter 22 at the upper limit of its movement, until the coil 10a is energized.

A plate 42 is fixed with respect to a stationary bed 34 and has a slot 44 therethrough, the bottom edge of which forms the pivot point 14. Armature 12 extends through slot 44 and is bent to extend around and upwardly along plate 42 to have a pivotal connection therewith. Subassembly 10 has two mounting tabs 46 and 48 at its top, which also extend through slot 44 and extend upwardly and along plate 42 in the same configuration as armature 12, so that subassembly 10 has the same swinging connection with pivot point 14 as does armature 12.
