Prevent Sticking Scan

In wire matrix printers, "prevent sticking scans" have to be performed in certain defined cycles to prevent the print wires from becoming stuck in their guides as a result of the printing ink, after not having been used for a long period of time.

To this end, counter 1 stores a predetermined number of punch card transfer cycles. After a specific number has been reached, the output signal of counter 1 sets a request flip-flop 2 initiating the prevent sticking scans, i.e., as the cards are being transferred, all print wires of the matrix are moved once.
