Abstract

A rotatable magnetic head assembly is formed with a fixed mandrel section 10 and a replaceable mandrel section 12. The replaceable section 12 is mounted to a shaft 14, and includes an armature 16 of a transformer that cooperates with a transformer element 18 located in the fixed mandrel portion 10. The replaceable head rotor section 12 is removable from the shaft 14 for replacement of the transducer assembly.

A rotatable magnetic head assembly is formed with a fixed mandrel section 10 and a replaceable mandrel section 12. The replaceable section 12 is mounted to a shaft 14, and includes an armature 16 of a transformer that cooperates with a transformer element 18 located in the fixed mandrel portion 10. The replaceable head rotor section 12 is removable from the shaft 14 for replacement of the transducer assembly.

The motor armature 20 is also mounted to the removable rotor portion, and coacts with a motor field structure 22.
