Abstract

A stabilizing influence can be induced upon the rotation of a single flexible disc 1 or upon a pack of corotating closely spaced flexible discs, by locating a smooth reference surface 2 in proximity to a portion of the path of revolution traced by the single disc or pack. Experimental observations indicate that the reference surface should span at least 1/6th of the surface area of the path of revolution for best results.
