Multiple Magnetic Disk Removable Pack

An assembly consisting of a baseplate 10, washers 12, magnetic disks 14, alternately disposed on plate 10 in stacked relationship, and a clamp plate 16, is removably attached on a rotatable support spindle 18 by a thumb screw 20.

Three studs 22 are screwed into threaded openings 24 in baseplate 10, and a spacer collar 26 is disposed about each of studs 22. Studs 22 and collars 26 extend through openings 28 in washers 12 and openings 30 in disks 14, so as to permanently locate washers 12 and disks 14 rotatably with respect to baseplate
10. Clamp plate 16 is fixed with respect to baseplate 10 by screws 32 screwed into studs 22. The three collars 26 are made to the same length so as to accurately space the lower surface of clamp plate 16 with respect to the upper surface of baseplate 12, and cause the stacked disks 14 and spacers 12 to have an accurately predetermined height.

Baseplate 10 rests on a flanged surface 34 of spindle 18, and dowel pin 36 fixed in spindle 18 extends into a keyway 38 in baseplate 10 to rotatably fix baseplate 10 with respect to spindle 18. Screw 20 for holding the assembly of baseplate 10, washers 12, disks 14 and clamp plate 16 to spindle 18 is screwed into threaded opening 40 in disk 18. The assembly may be removed from spindle 18 by unscrewing screw 20.
