Described is a subsystem providing a storage organization and operations to manage data objects (DO) that are procedures that operate on other data.

The figure shows the subsystem in relation to the main system. The subsystem is compromised of:
1. 4 Storage Stacks (S1-S4), shown as boxes, along with the

form of the DO as they are held on each stack.
2. 7 Operations (01-07), shown as arrows, to move DO between

stacks.
3. 3 Transformations (T1-T3), shown as circles, to alter the

form of DO as they move between certain defined stacks. The 4 storage stacks are:
S1. PENDING stack. This holds DO not yet interpreted as procedures.

S2. ACTIVE stack. This holds DO that have been interpreted and along with information sufficient to reverse the

effects of Their interpretation.

S3. History stack. This holds DO that have been interpreted, but without the saved information held on the ACTIVE stack. S4. REJECT stack. This is similar to the ACTIVE stack, but holds DO that are not intended for interpretation.

The 7 operations are:
01. STORE. Accept a DO from the main system and put it on

the PENDING stack.

A) Move DO to S1.

B) Raise error if DO already on any stack.
02. REJECT. Move a DO from the PENDING to the REJECT stack.

A) Move DO from S1 to S4.

B) Raise error if DO not on S1.
03. DELETE. Remove DO from the REJECT stack and return it to

the main system.

A) Remove DO from S4.

B) Raise error if DO not on S4.
04. REACCEPT. Move a DO from the REJECT to the PENDING stack.

A) Move DO from S4 to S1.

B) Raise error if DO not on S4.

The last 3 operations involve the execution of the data transformations T1 through T3, as they are defined below.
05. INSTALL. This moves a DO from the PENDING to the ACTIVE

stack, while performing T1 on the DO.
