Pin Set Mechanism

One of several similar control pins 10 is set to its broken line position under power supplied by cam 11.

Air pressure is temporarily supplied from a control source such as a keyboard through tube 12 to expand piston 13. The horizontal displacement of piston 13 rotates trigger 14 to place it under drive vane assembly 15. Drive vane assembly 15 is rotated clockwise by drive arm 16 when driven by cam 11.

10. Piston 13 is allowed to extend further by control surface 14a and exposes exit port 13a, to release the trapped air pressure from behind piston 13. Displacement of follower lever 17 acts against tapered ledge 18 of a latching vane 19, to rotate the latching vane 19 clockwise and release any previously latched similar follower lever 17. Near the end of the clockwise motion of the follower lever, the latching vane 19 is urged counterclockwise by bias spring 20 and thereby holds follower lever 17 in a latched condition by surface 21.
