Page End Control

Aesthetic features of printed pages produced in an unattended printer system are improved by automatically controlling printout, based upon text line positions relative to paragraph beginnings and endings.

Printout is controlled such that the last printed line on a page will not be the first or next to last line of a paragraph. After power "on" the number of lines (+/-1) of text is specified, and then the stored text to be printed is scanned. If during scanning the last specified line is the next to last line of a paragraph, both this line and the last line of the paragraph will be printed. The blank line separating paragraphs will be skipped, since paragraph separation is achieved by page separation.

If the specified last line is the first line of a paragraph, it will be printed as the first line on the next page. Should the specified last line be the first line of a paragraph with a single-line heading, the heading will not be separated from the paragraph. It will be printed on the next page along with the paragraph.
