Developer Unit Mounting Configuration

A magnetic brush developer unit is mounted within a machine frame so that it can be easily removed therefrom or moved to an inoperative position, without disturbing critical spacing adjustments.

The developer unit is installed in a machine and the right side end plates 10 thereof are carried by V-shaped extrusion 11 of the machine frame. As the developer unit nears its desired location, the openings 10a of end plates 10 abut tapered shouldered studs 12 which are accurately prepositioned on the machine frame. The left side, not shown, of developer end plates 10 have been carried to position by shaft 13.

The developer unit is pivotally guided upwardly in the direction of arrow 14a by a lift handle 15, until cams 16 can be rotated clockwise in the direction of arrows 14b through common shaft 17 to cause cams 16 to rest atop shaft 13.

The clearance 18 of the magnetic brush roll to the photoconductor drum is adjusted by socket screws 19, which independently raise or lower shaft 13 through pivotally guided brackets 20. As the desired clearance 18 is obtained, the pivot studs 21, locking nuts 22, holding studs 23, locking nuts 24 and adjusting screw locking nuts 25 are securely anchored.

A depressable spring steel developer unit retaining chuck 26 is rigidly fixed as to closely clear the near side of the front developer end plate 10. The developer unit, now in its desired repeatable position, can be lowered and removed from the mach...
