Nonsynchronous Conveyors

Pallets carrying parts are transferred between conveyors moving at different speeds.

A series of conveyors expose part-carrying pallets to varying length process steps in accordance with each conveyor's speed. Pallets are retained on conveyors by dogs which engage the pallet pins. Dogs are pivoted and spring- loaded up on dog axles passing through the conveyor chain links.

When a pallet is transferred from a fast to a slow conveyor, the pallet overdrives the dogs on the slow conveyor until the transfer is complete. In a slow-to-fast conveyor transfer, the dogs on the fast conveyor pull the pallet off the slow conveyor.

Instead of spring loading, the dogs may be designed to rest horizontally and be lifted when a pallet is encountered. This may be accomplished with appropriate dog pins and pallet cams.
