Envelope Loading Module

A device to facilitate loading of cards which are to be sequentially fed from the top of a card hopper to a utilization device is shown.

To load the hopper, a motor powers a leadscrew which lowers the carrier plate. Near the bottom of the movement of the carrier plate, the slot in the lift arms engages the yoke. The motor continues to drive for a further distance to pivot the hopper out of the frame about the pivot points. The door can then be opened and cards placed on the carrier plate. Due to the incline of the back of the hopper, the cards are biased to the rear of the hopper such that a tall stack may be loaded.

The door is then closed and the motor reversed. The hopper swings back into the vertical position and the lift arms raise the carrier plate which raises the card stack. As the cards are fed the motor increments the lift arms maintaining a constant card level.
