Protective Module Cover

A ceramic module 10 having an integrated circuit chip 11 and a plurality of depending pins 12, is subject to damage during the handling thereof. A plastic cap 13 having resilient side walls 14, at least at opposite ends thereof, is provided with upwardly extending tabs 15 and 16 and depending skirts 16A having locking or latching projections 17.

The cap 13 is dimensioned to fit on the substrate 10 with the skirt 16A overlying the edges of the substrate. The latching projections 17 engage beneath the substrate 10 to hold the cap 13 in place. Squeezing the projecting tabs 15 and 16 effects a release of the latches 17 and permits easy removal of the cap 13.
