Thermoplastic Structural Foam Gate

A gate is an element of an enclosure for a data processing unit, and it carries logic and storage cards and other components of the unit. The drawing shows an improved gate that illustrates the advantages of structural foam plastic in this application.

The gate is molded in two units, 1 and 2. The two parts are bolted together in the facing position shown. They are self-aligning. Unit 2 has tapered card holders 3. The gate provides positive positioning of the card guide and overcomes the card alignment problem. The two units avoid the large number of parts that are required in a conventionally assembled gate. They permit rapid assembly in manufacture and simple replacement if a unit becomes damaged.
