Silent Paper Handler

Paper handler unit 10 is associated with a printer, not shown. The unit 10 is acoustically designed to mitigate transmission of noise through the paper, as a result of the printing action associated with the printer.

In unit 10 is a cylindrically-shaped bichambered carousel 10A having twin chambers 11 and 12. Each chamber has a pair of feed rollers 13 for feeding the paper P from the stacks 14, 15. As shown chamber 11 is in position to feed the paper P from stack 14 into the printer. The other chamber 12 is in an idle position juxtaposed to an access door, not shown, which allows the operator to insert the stack 15 into chamber 12 and feed it into the rollers 13.

After the stack 14 has been used, the carousel is rotated 180 degrees so that chamber 12 is positioned to feed the printer with the paper P from stack 15. During this period, the operator may insert a new stack of paper P into the now empty chamber 11. A unit, not shown, similar to the unit 10 is provided on the other side of the printer, not shown, to remove and store the paper as it comes out of the printer.

To soundproof these units, the outer and inner walls of the chambers 11 and 12 are lined with suitable acoustical absorbing materials 16A and 16B, respectively.
