Detachable Handle for Wafer Magazine Carriers

This detachable handle is used on a wafer magazine carrier and permits the carrier to be inserted or removed from the manufacturing line wafer input/output stations.

The figure shows the detachable handle, which is made from three pieces of blanked and formed sheet metal; one is spring steel 4 and two are nonhardened steel 6 and 8, that are spot welded together.

Hand grips 10 and 12 on the C-shaped section 6 are formed integral with the main handle for operator comfort and could be made of molded plastic.

The handle is engaged/disengaged by squeezing hand grip 12 and the flanges on 8 together, which reduces the distance or overall length between the ends of engagement tabs 14. In the "free" position, tabs 14, when engaged in the wafer magazine slots, not shown, securely lock the magazine to the handle.
