Symmetrical Charge Scorotron

This symmetrical charge scorotron provides a uniform electrostatic field and corona emission.

A symmetrical charge scorotron includes two bays, 11 and 13 formed from the same casting. Two molybdenum emission wires located within each bay provide uniform negative emission therefrom. The end blocks 17 are sealed allowing the inner surfaces thereof to remain salt free, thereby insuring a clean insulator surface between the conductors which are connected to a high-voltage source and the exterior salt contaminated surfaces. As a result, low end-block leakages may be maintained at high-relative humidity conditions.

Critical dimensions are maintained within a close tolerance by molded frets in each end block. The corona wire 15 to grid wire spacing is set by frets 19 and
21. The grid wire to charge surface spacing is fixed by fret 21 locating on a fixed tab on the utilization device.

Two air intake ports 23 remove excess ozone from the area of the corona discharge.
