Abstract

The drawing shows a construction for an electrical bus that provides a characteristic impedance of only a few ohms. This characteristic impedance equals the impedance Zo of a terminating resistor. The low impedance of the bus and the match of the impedance of the bus with the impedance of the terminating resistor, suppress alternating components in the c current and provide a low-noise power source.

Low Noise Electrical Bus

The drawing shows a construction for an electrical bus that provides a characteristic impedance of only a few ohms. This characteristic impedance equals the impedance Zo of a terminating resistor. The low impedance of the bus and the match of the impedance of the bus with the impedance of the terminating resistor, suppress alternating components in the c current and provide a low-noise power source.

The bus has a channel shaped outer conductor 3, a bar shaped inner conductor 4, and an intervening dielectric 5. The close spacing and the flat surfaces of the inner and outer conductors provide a high-shunt capacitance. The channel shape of the outer conductor 3 and the close spacing of the two conductors provides a low-series inductance.
