Abstract

A magnetic bubble device containing an insulating polymer film is described. A thin (400 Angstrom) polymer film is positioned between a magnetic garnet film and the magnetic conductor overlay of a bubble device, as illustrated in the figure. Examples of such films are polytetrafluorethylene, polyethylene, polychloro-di-p-xylylene and polymerized epoxy silanes. These polymeric films may be vapor deposited or they can be formed by glow-discharge polymerization techniques.

Insulating Polymer Films for Magnetic Bubble Devices

A magnetic bubble device containing an insulating polymer film is described. A thin (400 Angstrom) polymer film is positioned between a magnetic garnet film and the magnetic conductor overlay of a bubble device, as illustrated in the figure. Examples of such films are polytetrafluorethylene, polyethylene, polychloro-di-p-xylylene and polymerized epoxy silanes. These polymeric films may be vapor deposited or they can be formed by glow-discharge polymerization techniques.

The polymer film described above provides insulation for the device. In addition, this film greatly reduces the effect of the metalization stress present with the conductor layer.
