This impact printer simultaneously prints on the front side f and on the back side b of a form F using two wire print matrices M1 and M2, both disposed adjacent the front side f of the form F.

Each of the matrices M1 and M2 comprises a plurality of print wires 10 which extend through and are moveable through a body 12. Wires 10 are disposed in an area 14 of the matrix M1 or M2 in such disposition with respect to each other that the wires may form numbers and letters, either in their ordinary or mirror image forms, such as the numeral 7 shown in connection with the matrix M2 or the mirror image numeral 7 shown in connection with the matrix M1.

Matrix Ml is disposed opposite platen P1, and ribbon R1 is disposed between matrix M1 and form F. Therefore, when the mirror image of a number or letter is formed by the raised wires 10 moving through matrix M1 toward form F, the number or letter is written in its ordinary form on the front side f of the form F.

Matrix M2 is disposed opposite platen P2, and ribbon R2 is disposed between form F and platen P2. Therefore, if wires 10 are moved through the body 12 of matrix M2 in the ordinary form of the number or letter desired to be printed, this number or letter will be printed on the backside b of form F.
