Abstract

The figure shows a cross section through a stack of containers for protecting magnetic recording disks. Each container is formed from two identical interlocking circular mouldings. The interlocking is achieved y a projecting rim 1 around the periphery of one side of the moulding, which is fashioned to be a tight fit over the edge 2 on the other side of an identical moulding. Further interlocking is achieved by cooperating circular inner rings 3 and 4 on adjacent mouldings.

Container for Recording Disks

The figure shows a cross section through a stack of containers for protecting magnetic recording disks. Each container is formed from two identical interlocking circular mouldings. The interlocking is achieved y a projecting rim 1 around the periphery of one side of the moulding, which is fashioned to be a tight fit over the edge 2 on the other side of an identical moulding. Further interlocking is achieved by cooperating circular inner rings 3 and 4 on adjacent mouldings.

When two mouldings are interlocked, a totally closed space 7 is provided between the mouldings suitable for containing a magnetic recording disk 8. Raised annular rings 5 and 6 on opposite sides of each moulding serve to clamp a disk 8 in place in the container. A disk 8 is shown stored between two mouldings where it is seen to be completely enclosed in the container supported only by its inner edge.

An axial bolt, not shown, through the holes 9 clamps the mouldings together, so that they cannot separate during transportation from one location to another.
