Dual Carriage Cable Drive

The device as depicted shows a dual-cable driven carriage for positioning a picker within an X-Y coordinate system.

The device comprises of support frame 10 having first assembly block 12 and second assembly block 14. Guide rod 16 is interconnected between both assembly blocks.

Drive motor 18 is attached to assembly block 12, and drive pulley 20 is connected by a shaft, not shown, to the drive motor 18. Parallel strands of cables 23 are positioned around drive pulley 20 and idler pulley 22. Idler pulley 22 is attached to assembly block 14 by bolt spring tension assembly 24.

Carriage assembly 26 has two spaced apart pairs of rollers 28 which travel along guide rod 16. Pulley attachment fastener 30 interconnects cables 23 and also attaches carriage 26 to the cables.

Drive motor 32, carriage assembly 34, Cables 36 and associated parts are arranged in an identical configuration.
