This card blank enables a customer to insert a photograph or the like, fold and seal the card on his own premises.

The double half-hinge card 10 (Fig. 1) is made up of one-half thickness 12 of the required thickness 13 (Fig. 2) of the card 10, which is obtained after folding card part 15 (Fig. 3) over part 16. A photograph 17 or other item may be inserted by providing an aperture 18 in the underlay 19 (Fig. 4) and core 20 of the required size and shape, in either half part 15 or 16 (Fig. 5). Permanent closure, after folding at the underlay 19 self-hinge center line 21, is obtained by heating precoated cohesive adhesive on the underlay 19 and applying clamping pressure until cool.

In Fig. 3 the photograph 17 is in the face card half 16 and is visible through the translucent overlay as the card 10 is turned over faceup. The magnetic stripe 26 and signature panel stripe 27 are shown on the back side of part 15 of the card 10 which is facedown.

This design concept permits processing of the thinner materials in a continuous rotary web laminator and rotary printing machines. The preferred process is based on a vinyl chloride acetate (VCA) clear underlay slit to double half-card width. Two equal width webs of VCA opaque rigid white cores 20 are butted and laminated full width of and to the underlay 19, using a vinyl ink coating for heat-cooling for sealing.
