Abstract

The mini-slot reader apparatus 10 shown comprises a magnetoresistive head 20 which is spring loaded through piston 26, by springs 18, in DELRIN* block 12. Block 12 is pivoted near the front, at pivot point 28, thereby making it self-aligning to the magnetic stripe to be read as it passes through slot 24. Block 12 is also spring loaded, by spring 14, so as to swing out of slot 24 as the card to be sensed is passed therethrough.
