Display of Page Numbers

Displayed page numbers are caused to vary from a fixed internal log, and correspond to an operator's hard copy in order for the operator to keep track of revision.

Revision of a document with insertion or deletion of pages prior to the revision point causes the logged page number of subsequent pages to be changed, but the system will display the "old" page number as each subsequent page is accessed.

The operator may thus easily locate the revision point in the author revised hard copy, even if the task is interrupted for an indefinite period.
