Dual Entry Helix Device Carrier

Described is a dual-entry device carrier. Shown is a vertical magazine for device chips which in conjunction with a vibrating source and connecting track, allows devices to be unloaded at the bottom while being loaded at the top or vice versa.

The vertical magazine shown consists of two stacked drums 10 and 11 held on a vibrating base 12. Each drum has wound thereon in helical fashion a length of channel track 12, terminated at each end with interconnection heads 14a and 14b. Head 14a of drum 10 is adapted to connect the track at the lower end to a chip loading apparatus, not shown. The upper head 14b of the lower drum 10 is coupled by a semihelical track 16 to the lower interconnection head 14a of the upper drum 11. The upper unit 11 may also be provided with an upper interconnection head 14b, adapted to connect the trap to still another chip loading apparatus, not shown. In this way the chips may be loaded into the magazines from either end or one magazine may be loaded from the other.
