Method of Bonding Ceramics

This process provides for the bonding of two or more ceramic workpieces with very thin and controlled bond lines.

The process consists of the steps of vacuum depositing glass on the surfaces of the workpieces which are to be bonded together. Subsequently, the glass coated workpieces are placed into mating relationship, preferably under pressure, and subjected to heat sufficient to cause the vacuum deposited glass to reflow. When cooled, the ceramic workpieces will be securely bonded.

Where the ceramic workpieces are ferrite, this technique can he useful in the manufacture of magnetic transducers.
