Abstract

A 3-p-chlorophenyl-1, 1-dimethyl urea accelerator is used in a known epoxy hermetic sealant. It provides a longer setting or gel time, which allows or provides increased time for driving off undesirable solvents and water. A typical formulation of the sealant is as follows: Epoxy (bisphenol-A) 52% Diaminodiphenyl sulfone 5% Cupric oxide 41% Thixotrope 1% 3-p-chlorophenyl-1, 1-dimethyl urea 1%.
