A molded, high-precision bevel gear having low friction and excellent wear resistance is obtained by molding thermoplastic teeth over a phenolic hub.

A hub 1 is molded from a stable material such as a TEFLON* filled phenolic which is then used as an insert for molding the gear face 2. A preferred tooth material is an acetal homopolymer. * Trademark of E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.
