In a head process it is often necessary to provide magnetic isolation of the individual flux paths, consisting of several ferrite blocks for a magnetic head closure piece. The usual method is to laminate the ferrite blocks using glass as a bond and insulator.

Figs. 1 and 2 show a method of forming a plurality of ferrite blocks without requiring individual positioning of the ferrite blocks 1, as shown in Fig. 2. A slab of ferrite 2 is grooved and glass filled, as shown in Fig. 1. The ferrite slab is undercut as per dashed lines 3 through the glass filled slots, as shown in Fig. 2, to achieve return path isolation of all ferrite blocks 1.
